Another day and another adventure unfolds, if you are into trekking, sight-seeing and swimming in fresh cold water, well we have something that could open your eyes to the beauty of the falls.
Welcome to the “Mabayo Water Falls”. The falls are ran by locals and Haita people, the falls provide jobs and security for the people who work there and that provides as extra income for them.
The scene of the Mabayo Water falls is refreshing as it was beautiful, the area was maintained, clean and overall scenic; perfect for those who love to take a picture. Make sure you follow these steps on how to get to the Mabayo Water Falls, although we have used a car to go Bataan this time, we used the app Waze to lead us where the falls was, it’s a 45 minute ride to Bataan, give or take and another 25 minute ride to the falls. For those commuting, make sure you go to the SBMA Park n’ Shop area where all public transport are gathered, the jeeps that says Bataan is your ticket, which costs about Php 45. That ride will at least take 45 minutes to an hour and before the jeep leaves it has to be filled with passengers. Once at Bataan make sure you stop at the Bayan and find any nearby tricycles. Tell the tricycle driver the Mabayo Waterfalls and they will lead you the way, which costs around Php 80 since it takes around 25- 30 minutes to get there.
And now you have reached your destina
tion, the crystal clear waters and scenic area of Mabayo Waterfalls. Upon arrival you will see a hut and their sign about the offers they have in the falls, they have an entrance fee of Php 50 for sightseeing and Php of 100 in case you want to have a picnic, Biking for Php 50, Fire making Demo for Php 100, Cooking in Bamboo for Php 100 and if you want to stay overnight you can for Php 500, these prices are also per pax or per head, so in case you come in a group make sure you bring some extra cash for this trip.
The trekking begins, the walk to the falls is about 15-20 minutes but once you near the falls you could hear the gushing of water, the walk there may be muddy depending on the weather but if its summer or dry sea
son you just have to worry about the dirt. Now once you reach the falls, you have this feeling of having your breath taken away and just look at the site around you with awe, two falls right before your eyes falling and trickling into big streams, and picnic tables surrounding the area, it’s a recipe for enjoyment an fun barkada or family ventures. Make sure you plan any future activities for your group since the area may have limited offers for your liking, but swimming in those cold and refreshing water and staying under the falls, you just feel like you don’t need to do anything more.
The process of going home is the same, taking a tricycle for Php 80 and taking the bus that it waiting in the bayan is Php 45 and that will take you back
to SBMA. The trip was definitely exhilarating, cold but worth the money and the trip.
All in a trip worth coming back for! The area was maintained well, the nature surrounding you was peaceful and charming, till our next Adven’trees.
