If you are into baby turtles and would like to release them to the sea this is the best place for you!

The Pawikan Conservation Center in Bataan helps rescue, protect and propagate Marine turtles or Pawikan in Tagalog. The center started out as a community-based program that is devoted to help conserve the Pawikans, currently it is being headed by the Bantay Pawikan Inc. It is in Morong Bataan, Nagbalayong.

Now that you are familiar about what the Center does, you may wonder how to go there, follow these steps on how we managed to go to the Pawikan Conservation Center with a whopping Php 210!

But before any of this always keep in mind, make sure you call the Pawikan Conservation Center beforehand the center will reserve some baby turtles for you to release if you call, also book your trip on peak seasons if you want to release baby turtles which is between November to February but most preferably around November and January.

We gathered the group at SBMA PARK N’ SHOP where all of the public transport around the SBMA area is gathered, there will be a line of jeepneys that will go to Morong, Bataan. We rode the jeep that will then take us at the Bayan of Morong, the fare would be Php 45. It will take roughly around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic.

When we reached the bayan, we walked to the nearby 7-eleven where tricycles will be waiting; we took the tricycle and told them the name of the center that will be a fare of Php 70.

Alas we have finally arrived at the destination; with no entrance fee, it was a breath of salty ocean water and the beautiful sun slowly setting in the horizon. We were ready to release some baby turtles (which cost Php 50) and watch the sun set, but unfortunately the last batch of 45 baby turtles were released before we arrived. We did however enjoy the view of the Pawikan Beach surrounding the area where future Mother Turtles would lay their eggs and watched the sunset.

Going home we exited the area and rode another tricycle back costing at Php 50 to where the bus to SBMA is waiting, we waited until the last call time of 7pm, the fare is Php 45 and that will take 45 minutes.

All in all it was a trip worth coming back for, the beach area was clean and the water was clear, hopefully next time we get to release some baby Pawikans, tune in till our next Adven’trees!
